Hisham Abahusayn grew up in Saudi Arabia in the 70's and 80's. As the first born son of a Saudi Father and American Mother, he traveled extensively around the world. As a teen he would move to California, and despite living in Kansas, London, and many other places, he, his wife and son call Los Angeles home.
Hisham started working as an Arri camera rental tech in Los Angeles in the mid 90's. He worked on movies like Twister and Die Hard. Then one day he worked on a Publicity photo shoot that changed everything. "It was pure photography. Everything in the story was about that one frame. I fell in love." He never looked back and has spent the last 20 years joyfully Photo Assisting on top-tier advertising, editorial and new media campaigns. From 8x10 Polaroid processing for Nick Knight and Dior to Image to 3D projection mapping for the NBA and Olympics. He loves the work.
While still working with some of the best Image Makers on earth, Hisham has started to carve out a photography career. Doing still life photography at his home studio and being commissioned for editorial work has reenergized him, giving him the same happy attitude he has always had for the work. "If you're creating great images, and pushing the visual forward, the reward is lasting and the mark you make is tangible". "When you have an impact on a company or organization with the images you make, it's an incredibly satisfying feeling." "It's an honor to be called an Artist, and I don't take that title lightly".
